"Altar Guild" – Setting the Table for the Lord’s Supper

Do you remember having to set the table when you were a kid? Well, we need folks to set the table for the Lord’s Supper! We call it “Altar Guild.” There are several teams for each Sunday service. The team serving at the 8:00 o’clock service shows up about a half hour early to set communion up before the service. They also clean up and set up for the 10:30 service. Those who serve at the 10:30 service begin serving at the beginning of communion and finish cleaning everything up for a short time after the service. If you’d like to serve on one of the teams, please let our Parish Secretary Ann Zehms know at 432 0308 or office@gracegb.org.

Greeters

Did you know that visitors decide that they will make a return visit to worship before the sermon? That means all the people visitors meet before the sermon are more important than the preacher! Greeters are the first impression we make on visitors.  Greeters serve for 30 minutes once a month before whatever worship service they usually attend. You will receive training, a name tag, and the opportunity to become one of the welcoming faces of Grace to both visitors and members. Families are welcome to be Greeters! For more information, please contact Pastor Julie at 432 0308 or pastorjulie@gracegb.org.

Ushers

Ushers are another group of people who have an opportunity to welcome visitors and members alike to worship. One of several usher teams is assigned to each of our worship services. Ushers begin serving about a half hour before the service begins and greet people, hand out bulletins, collect the offering and are generally friendly and helpful folks! If you’d like to serve on one of the Usher teams, please let our Parish Secretary Ann Zehms know at 432 0308 or office@gracegb.org.

Coffee Hour Hosts

Every Sunday between services we invite people into our parlor to enjoy coffee, juice, snacks, and fellowship. Coffee hour hosts pour the coffee and juice, say “hi!”, and help clean up at the conclusion of coffee hour. Time commitment: Sundays 9:00 – 10:15 a.m. Training is available. The sign-up sheet is on an easel next to the coffee table in the parlor. Contact Pastor Julie at 432 0208 or pastorjulie@gracegb.org you have any questions.

Lectors—Those Who Read the Lessons

As you have probably heard, speaking in public is one of our greatest fears. Grace is always looking for that kind of courage! Lectors serve about once a month at a service of their choice and may also help serve communion. If you would like to serve as a lector, please let our Parish Secretary Ann Zehms know at 432 0308 or office@gracegb.org. Ann will work you into the next schedule and notify the pastors, so you can receive a few instructions.

Communion Assistants

Jesus said to his disciples: “You give them something to eat!” So we need your help, not only with our other ministries through meals, but with serving the most important meal of the week: Holy Communion. Communion Assistants serve about once a month at a service of their choice. If you would like to serve as a communion assistant, please let our Parish Secretary Ann Zehms know at 432 0308 or office@gracegb.org. Ann will work you into the next schedule and notify the pastors, so you can receive a few instructions.

Worship Bands

Grace is blessed with two worship bands: one is called Life Guard which includes mostly confirmation age youth.  The other band has no name other than the Adult Band.  Their members are (mostly) adults.

Life Guard leads worship on most fourth Sundays of the month at the 10:30 a.m. service; the Adult Band leads worship on most third Sundays of the month at the 10:30 a.m. service.

Life Guard plays mostly contemporary Christian music; the Adult Band plays a mix of contemporary, global, and traditional songs.

They're very dedicated and talented groups...you'll enjoy them both!

Please contact the church office at 920 432 0308 if you'd like to check on their schedule of if you'd like to join them!

Other Opportunities to Play!

Aside from the formal ensembles, worship music is also supplied by a wide variety of talented volunteers who sing solos, play their instruments, and form small groups to enhance the worship experience at Grace. There are no bounds to the talents God has bestowed upon the people of Grace!

For interest in any of the ensembles or worship music opportunities at Grace, please contact the church office at 920-432-0308 for more information.
