God's Work Our Hands
God’s Work. Our Hands.
The ELCA’s "tag-line" is "God's Work, Our Hands."
Here’s how your hands can do God’s work at Grace:
Ecumenical Partnership for Housing (EPH)
EPH is a organization composed of Green Bay Area churches working together to help homeless families by providing transitional housing through ownership of over 20 homes and duplexes. Grace is a founding member congregation of EPH.
- Serve as congregational representative on EPH Board of Directors
- Help with congregational work days to care for “our” house.
- To volunteer to help with EPH, please contact Pastor Julie at 920-432-0308 or email@example.com or ephgb.org.
The Ultimate Recyclers
Every third Thursday (except in December) women (and men!) of Grace gather at 8:30 a.m. in the North Basement to work for several hours making quilts, health kits, school kits, and layettes for Lutheran World Relief. Old clothing, sheets, and blankets are transformed by the hands of members of Grace into blessings for people who are refugees because of war, famine, or natural disasters all over the world.
The 2nd Sunday of every month Grace volunteers at Woodside Nursing Home. Activities include:
- Bringing the residents to Chapel and back to their rooms after Chapel
- Keeping an eye on the residents during the service
- Picking up bulletins if dropped
- Taking people back to their rooms as needed
How you can help
If you would like to volunteer go to the main entrance of the nursing home (1040 Pilgrim Way) around 9:30am the 2nd Sunday of each month. The front desk is right there, and the Chapel is straight ahead. You will find the rest of the volunteers in the Chapel. They will walk you through the routine. We stay until all residents are returned to their rooms, which is around 11:15am. This is a very rewarding activity, and a great service project for Confirmation Students and their Mentors.
