Gifts for Community Needs

Another way we serve in our community is to respond to community needs with offerings or specific kinds of gifts.  The Board of Outreach and the Women of the Church organize the following offerings for community needs.

Undy 500

Each year members of Grace donate school supplies to the Green Bay Service League for the operation of their Back to School Store.  Needs are publicized through the congregational newsletter and bulletin.  During the months of June and July, a labeled collection box can be found at church in the Narthex.  For several years we have been contributed to the supply of underwear available at the store so generously that our goal is called the Undy 500!

Give a Kid a Book Campaign

Members of Grace are asked at Christmas time to combat illiteracy and instill the joy of reading in disadvantaged children by donating new books through the Give a Kid a Book Campaign coordinated by the Brown County Library and Salvation Army.

Operation Christmas

Each year Grace provides items to help a Green Bay Lutheran Social Services group home during the holidays.  These homes are for adults who are preparing to gain more independent living skills while they recover from various difficult life circumstances (serious injuries, mental illness, addiction).  A specific list of resident needs is made available each year by LSS for members of Grace to select from.  Donations of money are also appreciated to purchase additional items.
